WACF honored by WPOA 

At the recent Wawasee Property Owners Association meeting aboard the SS Lillypad, the WACF was awarded the annual WPOA Chief’s award.  The award reads: ‘It is with extreme appreciation that the WPOA conveys the Chief Award to:  WACF recognizing your unending generosity and dedication to making sure that Lake Wawasee continues to be the Premier Lake in all of Indiana.’

WACF Acquires New Property

3_28_2016Between the Lakes

2016 – Recently, the WACF has acquired the waterfront property located east of the Wawasee-to-Syracuse Lake main channel and across the road from the Channel Marker restaurant. This beautiful location was for decades the Searfoss family homestead. The property will now be known as “WACF Between-the-Lakes.”

“WACF Between-the-Lakes” is approximately seven acres with nearly 1,600 feet of water frontage adjoining the crucial Mud Lake wetlands.

Go Fishing with the DNR!

Free learn to fish clinic led by DNR biologist Matt Linn on Thursday, July 5 from 9 AM to 11 AM.  The DNR will supply fishing rods and bait.  Bring the kids (adults must have a fishing license to participate).  Join us at the WACF Between-the-Lakes property on Pickwick road across from the Channel Marker restaurant.  No pre-registration necessary.


It’s Bug Catch Time!

Our most popular event of the year will be on Saturday, July 7 from 9 AM to 11 AM at the WACF Education Center.  Kids will hit the water with nets to learn all about water critters from Nancy Brown (Hoosier Riverwatch trainer).  This event is free and everyone is welcome! Johnson Bay East Preserve

WACF’s newest acquisition (January 2018) is Johnson Bay East Preserve which neighbors the Johnson Bay wetlands and the B&O Railroad to the north and Johnson Bay wetlands to the west. This special 41 acre preserve once provided the outflow of Dillon Creek into the Johnson Bay/Wawasee wetlands and headwaters.
