The WACF Education Committee organized and ran the first annual WACF Rafting Adventure for Wawasee High School freshman in September of 2016 at the new WACF Between-the-Lakes Preserve. Over 200 9th graders joined the WACF volunteers including retired teachers, State Police, Conservation Officers and WPOA Lake Patrol for this unique multi-day event. Rafts were borrowed from the Kosciusko Soil and Water Conservation District. WACF events always have a heavy dose of wetland education combined with lots of fun. Everyone enjoyed the splashing and raft races and no one came back dry including the teachers! It was very interesting to watch the quiet and subdued manner of the freshman as they departed the bus in the morning change to excited and happy by the end of the day.
