2016 WETLAND ADVENTURES CALENDAR
Thursday, July 7 – We will build a watershed and discuss issues concerning the watershed. We will collect and identify some water “bugs”, make grass caterpillars and use a process called chromatography to make a butterfly. We will also go on a canoe trip along the shore to find emergent plants and insects as well as other larger animals.
Thursday, July 14 – We will do an activity to determine when we think water is too polluted to drink. We will play a game to learn about camouflage; make some bird-feeders and during the canoe trip we will have a scavenger hunt.
Thursday, July 21 – We will build a watershed and discuss pollution and how to protect our watershed. We will collect and identify some invasive and native species; make wild flower seed balls and during the canoe trip we will have a scavenger hunt.
Thursday, July 28 – We will do an activity to identify sources of water pollution and discuss how we can clean up the water. We will learn to identify some trees; make leaf rubbings and a nature collage. During the canoe trip we will look for biodiversity.
