Quinn Cabin Tour

The Quinn Cabin at the WACF Between-the-Lakes Preserve will be open to the public for viewing on August 29, 2026, from 9 AM to Noon.  The Quinn Cabin was built in 1896 on Kale Island using native tamarack trees.  The cabin was built by George Miles, who grew up in Syracuse, IN, was an avid sportsman,  and the editor of the local newspaper. Indiana Governor Thomas Marshall appointed him Commissioner of Fisheries and Game in 1911.  The Quinn Cabin was moved from Kale Island to the WACF Between-the-Lakes Preserve in 2022.  The Quinn Cabin has been furnished with antiques consistent with the period and includes many examples of fish, birds, and animals as would have been seen in the area in 1896.  The Between-the-Lakes Preserve and Quinn Cabin are located on Pickwick Road across from The Channel Marker restaurant.
