Mission Statement

Our Mission

In 1991, at the suggestion of the Wawasee Property Owners Association (WPOA), the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was created to protect, preserve, and enhance the Wawasee Area Watershed for present and future generations.

Since its inception, WACF has focused on land acquisition, management, and education. It has protected over 1000 acres of property within the watershed and over 10 miles of shoreline. On its properties, WACF has reconstructed wetlands, and designed and implemented sediment control measures. Thanks to the support of more than 400 annual partners, WACF has received grants totaling over $1,000,000 over the years. These have funded specific projects and activities aimed at limiting erosion and improving water quality in the Wawasee Area Watershed.

Our mission is to protect and enhance water quality and natural attributes in the Wawasee Area Watershed through water-related land acquisition, educational programming, and scientifically-informed action to preserve the lakes for future generations.

Lake Wawasee and the surrounding watershed form a tremendous legacy that we have received from our ancestors. As we look to the future, we seek to ensure that we pass on this important resource better than we found it – so that it can serve as a place for recreation and relaxation for our children and grandchildren and those to follow them. To ensure this future, we must be the best stewards of this precious legacy.

Clean water is important to our very existence. Your support of the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation can help ensure the existence of Lake Wawasee – and clean water – for generations to come.

Our New Look

Our logo is more than just a design; it symbolizes our values and vision. The four circles represent the key elements we focus on at WACF: sun, water, land, and plants. These four elements help illustrate our mission as an organization: to protect the Wawasee Area Watershed for future generations.
