FAQs

I don't live on the lake, so why should I care?

Clean water is a shared responsibility and a vital goal for everyone. Our region boosts abundant water resources, providing the foundation for our health, economy, and quality of life. Our lakes and streams provide recreation, rest, agriculture, industry, and diverse wildlife opportunities. According to our partners at the Lilly Center for Lake and Streams, the lakes in our community contribute over $313 million annually to our local economy. Public health depends on water quality (for better or worse), so we all must support clean water.

What do I do if there is an injured or dead animal on my property?

Please contact your local DNR Office.

Do you take care of dredging and weeds in my channel?

Homeowners associations are in charge of collecting money and lining up weed control if they deem it necessary for your area. WACF monitors the invasive plant species in the lake but not the channels. WACF also completes projects that prevent erosion (and phosphorus) from reaching the lakes and streams in our watershed. WACF does not dredge for access.

Can I spray my weeds in front of my pier?

Each property owner can manage weeds up to 650 feet around your property. See our partners at Aquatic Weed Control for any weed management.
